A Gravel experience of the highest level
Starting and finishing in the Basque capital Vitoria-Gasteiz, THE WOLF RACE (La carrera del lobo) will be held between 24th and 25th May, 2024. All participants, in self-sufficiency mode (bikepacking), will follow a pre-determined Track, issued by this organisation a week beforehand, and must cover the 300km and +3,520m elev. within a maximum time of 24h.
Unlike other similar races, THE WOLF RACE will start at dusk, providing the experience of navigating at night and then see the sunrise to feel like a true adventurer.
Around 90% of THE WOLF RACE is on tracks and gravel roads, the rest is on small secondary roads that act as links between the different sectors. The route crosses several natural areas of great ecological value, such as the surroundings of the Ullíbarri-Gamboa reservoir, the Izki-Montaña Alavesa Natural Park, the Sierra de Toloño-Cantabria and Rioja Alavesa, where its walled villages await patiently.
In order to be afinisher it is essential to have the “Race Bib Checkpoint”stamped at the three surprise points indicated on the track, as well as finish the challenge in less than 24 hours. The strategy behind stops, if you make them, can be decisive towards being part of “the pack”.
